Frameworks of Future-Focused Architecture

Harvard Landmarks HAA 11 Lecture Series, spring 2021, “Seeing the Unseen” and “studioPM”

“Architecture can zoom out…it can build from the frameworks that shape our typical actions, so that these frameworks are made visible for adjustment in order to influence change on a fundamental level, with a future focus.  This involves designing with anticipation of change, to evolve through our models of imaging and building in order to keep pace with an unstable and diverse world.  But, critically, we have to first see and engage those frameworks as a medium of architectural design. In each of the works shared here, a structure is built that creates a space of active questioning in the face of pressures of repetition, convention, and familiarity that otherwise threaten to fix it.”
