studioPM

Megan Panzano is Director of studioPM LLC, an award-winning design practice addressing architectures across scales that interplay images, objects, and space to prompt more progressive and diverse ways of seeing, knowing, and interacting with the world.

Through design research and built work, cultural practices and matter at the periphery of life get unusual design attention.  These agents are called into correspondence with architecture, put in friction with familiar elements of the built, and experimented with as a mode of reconsidering norms.  Current obsessions include access to design thinking through boundary objects, techniques of vision and contemporary attention, forms of collectivity generated from practices of object collection, and spaces for unscripted play.  Interested in the tension between architecture’s solidity and the contingent logics of context, occupation, perception, and activity, the designs of this practice intend a register on the edge, making space that is a renewable resource-  rarely the same experience twice.

The work of studioPM has been honored, published, and exhibited in a variety of contexts, both domestic and international.

Megan Panzano has been teaching architecture concurrent with practice since 2010. She is Senior Director of Early Design Education and Lecturer in Architecture at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, where she leads the Harvard Undergraduate Architecture Studies and Harvard GSD Design Discovery programs in addition to teaching design studios, research seminars, a new advanced graduate course on design teaching.
